Trump Wears Mask In Public For The First Time

US President Donald Trump wore a mask in public for the first time on Saturday, during a visit to wounded military personnel at Walter Reed Hospital, located just outside Washington. Since the pandemic began in the country, Trump had never come up with Personal Protective Equipment.

The United States leads the number of cases and deaths by Covid-19 in the world: 3,356,242 and 137,414, respectively. Yesterday, the World Health Organization said that the country concentrates a quarter of infections worldwide. This Friday, another record of daily contamination was recorded in the US: 64,000. The situation is more serious in Florida, Texas, Arizona and California.

Faced with this data, Trump is being pressured to wear the mask. The item is mandatory only in 19 of the 50 US states, including California, New York and the capital Washington.

    Trump re-election

The pandemic has been affecting the campaign for  Trump’s re-electionAccording to a survey by ABC News and the Ipsos Institute, two-thirds of Americans disapprove of the president’s response to the crisis – 67% reject Trump’s actions, while 33% approve. For the White House, the most worrying of the latest polls is that the president’s popularity has been declining among independent and Republican voters.

Six weeks from the Republican convention, which marks the officialization of Trump’s name as a party candidate, the president’s strategists face a series of obstacles in organizing the event, which should be the highlight of the campaign.

Some allies complain that there is still no defined strategy to face Democrat Joe Biden. Others point to more serious problems, such as the fact that the city of Jacksonville, headquarters of the convention, is located in Florida, the epicentre of contamination in the USA. So far, at least six Republican senators have said they will not attend the event, which is in danger of being emptied.
